LOL yes I know that one oh so well! Trouble with me is I’ve got pens and notepads all over the house but still can’t find one when needed – lol lord only knows why our characters delight in talking to us when we try to sleep it don’t seem to matter how tired I am my mind is abuzz constantly! I think the paranormal ones are the worse because of the endless possibilities of them - my vampiric character Alexis (Waiting On Sundown) wasn’t happy with how I ended Chp 1 and literally will not leave me alone but he’s not really saying anything meritable and oddly enough I have a case of writer’s block, lol don’t ask me how that one works! – the endless joys of being a writer! And boy how I love it :) I’m moving into a place soon that’s stuck in-between the two parks that inspired 2 of my works and these heroes don’t get along and neither shuts up – boy is that goanna be fun! lol
by the way thanks for writing Shades of Grey, (and all your others) its a delight things have been trying here of late and I knew they would be so I pick one of your books cuz they hold the most power for me. Inspiring entertaining and a delightful momentary escape. Trouble is sometimes I love reading them so much it’s hard to put it down to get on with things – lol you’re a wonderful writer. Oh thank you so much, I remember now, it was a book I sadly don’t own but read a library copy of about 4 years ago. Thanks so much it was bugging me like crazy, here’s an example as a fellow writer you might understand. Have you ever had an idea and didn’t have a pen and paper handy then later when you have pen in hand you for the life of you cannot remember what it was and it just seems to sit there in your subconscious like a little voice laughing ‘narddy nar ha you can’t remember’ that’s what it was like – lol so thanks for clearing it up, no wonder I couldn’t find the answer digging out my book collection as the golden book wasn’t there! :) thanks. Hope you have a happy spring too here’s it’s almost winter (or at least what AUS calls winter – lol)

Hi Ella ~ Yes, I've had those moments when an idea came to me and I didn't have a pen at hand. It's usually late at night and I'm too lazy to get up and write it down, certain I'll remember in the morning, but I never do, so now I keep paper and pencil on my night stand!!!! Mandy 4/4/13

I’m pleased to say I’ve finally stumbled across a copy of ‘shades of grey’ I’m only 37pages in lol but I’m loving it already however it is seriously driving me crazy who is Edward Ramsey? Is he by chance in any of your other books? His name sounds so hauntingly familiar I can almost swear I’ve read about him in one of your other books. Am I right or is it just a quirky sense of deja vu with no grounding?

Hi Mandy just thought I’d drop by and say hi, great to hear your writing another 'Night' story I really love that series I’m sure there are a few good oldies of them I’m actually yet to read! *yay!* My local bookstore tells me were getting in some of your books next month, saving my pennies for those naturally lol
Quick Query, I’ve re-read some of my work and in parts it reads like I’m trying to get all this info and such out all at once like I’m talking without taking a breath, I’m not that wise in the realm of the written word but even I can tell that’s not good, in fact since I got my north and west mixed up in Waiting On Sundown and had a few other little typos despite my fine tooth combing I think I can see why I lost the contest. Any advice on how to smooth out my work?

Hi Ella ~ I wish I could tell you how to write, but, unfortunately, I can't. There are, however, numerous books out there that might be able to help. I sometimes write really long sentences myself. Luckily, my critique group is good at catching those! One thing that I've found really helps is reading your work out loud.

Hi ~ There's only one Midnight Moon. It was originally published by Leisure Books. When Zebra reissued it, they wanted to use my Ashley name because all my Zebra books are Ashley books. It isn't available in print any more, although I hope that might change somewhere down the road. Mandy 2/17/13

Glad you had a good time at your son’s house. My Q of ‘The Hero’s Condition’ was kind of rhetorical, all my men (clears throat – um mean ‘characters’-lol) suffer the same condition I don’t write them that way they just pop into my head that way, I only seem to form the rest of their personality and back stories. I think it’s one of the reasons why writers and readers find the heroes so irresistible and intriguing. I know I do. ;)
I’d read it for sure if you ever write that wizard story, maybe the story could have a connection to Darkfest (shrugs) just a thought.

I have to tell you I have been a fan of your's for almost 20 years. I Have always loved vampire, supernatural and romance stories and one day about 17 or 18 years ago in a book store in Houston, TX I discovered one of your books. I have always been very picky about what I read, the book's description really has to 'grab me' for me to even consider it, well my best friend and then roommate and I were on a book shopping expedition and she first noticed your book, 'Embrace the Night'. Well I read the description and was intrigued so I bought it; I read it in one night. After that I made it a point to buy every book of that genre that you have written. I have to tell you that not only have your books been entertaining for me, but also a means for escape. A little over 12 years ago my mother suffered a stroke and we found she had terminal lung cancer. We were told that either someone stay at home with Mama or she would have to go into a home so I quit my job and took care of my mother 24/7 until her death a little over a year later. I did this by myself and can tell you it can be one of the most heartbreaking things a person can ever do because of the knowledge you have of the inevitable, but I wouldn't have changed my choice. However, there were times when Mama would be sleeping that I would need to 'get away' but since that wasn't physically possible I settled for mentally and intellectually, by reading your books. These books were my constant companions during this time and several other times in my life when I needed a mental break. I think I can honestly say that having the gift of your books there helped get me through the bad spots for all these years. I know it sounds crazy but I found that being able to just step back and 'zone out' with these stories let me be better able to cope with the stresses when I would come back into reality. Thank you so much. As a side note; Ive taken to keeping a list of your books so I can keep track of what I have and what I need to add to my collection. Thank you again for gift of your imagination and your words.

Hello Mrs. Baker, the other day I was watching an old movie, it was Dracula vs Billy the Kid, it was pretty good, I really enjoy it, and my question is, has it ever occured to you write a Old Western-Vampire book?
I don't think I've ever heard of Dracula vs. Billy the Kid. But, to answer your question, I have thought writing an Old West-vampire book. Others have also suggested it, but I've never been able to come up with a decent plot. Maybe one of these days....Mandy 10/10/12

Hi Dawn ~ Sadly, most authors don't have much say in their covers, at least not the ones I know. For my upcoming book, As Twilight Falls, my editor sent me 2 different covers and asked me which one I preferred. I said the onel with the red background. You can see the other one on the Twilight web page. I'm not sure what would have happened if I had liked the other one.....since I think they'd already decided to go with the one I fortunately liked the best Glad you like the bookmarks and covers. There aren't any yearly conventions in CA. There are booksellers conventions that are held yearly, but they're held in different locations each year. The annual Romance Writers of America held an event here this year, but it's also held in a different location from year to year. Mandy 9/6/12

I'm really enjoying His Dark Embrace! Your heroes are exquisite I love how they are not perfect have darker issues but they are never truly evil.
Do you watch the show called Once Upon A Time? Do you like the characters Rumpelstiltskin and Belle. It’s a nice little take on the beauty and the beast story. I'm debating with my friend on how bad he thinks Rumpelstiltskin is, I myself think he's man thrown into desperate action by despair and not someone who has truly gone bad.

I can't find the answer. I just finished Everlasting Kiss, are you going to do a part 2 of that book or one about Rhys. I have looked all over but cannot find another book after Everlasting Kiss. Great book and I want to thank you for writing the love scenes so tastefully. I have been reading YA because the adult paranormal has been so graphic during the love scenes almost gratuitousness. Great story, Daisy was a great heroine and I loved all the characters. Thank you.
The sequel to Everlasting Kiss is titled Everlasting Desire and is available now. As for my love scenes, you can be sure you will never read anything erotic or "over the top" - in any of my books. I'm happy to know you enjoyed Everlasting Kiss. Mandy 7/25/12

Hi Dawn ~ As far as I know, there are no plans to publish "Blood and Moonlight" since the publisher has gone out of business. My short story in the anthology - Masquerade - was published previously in the anthology "After Twilight". Mandy 7/24/12

Hi, I have His Dark Embrace on order they have to ship it from the U.S but I’ll finally have a copy - it's one of the most highly anticipated book of yours I’ve wanted to read in a long time - I cherish all your books but I have to confess there are a few I’ve loved more. Can’t wait to read it! A friend and I went to see the Snow White and the Huntsman - have you seen it? What did you think? It was alright in my opinion however I do think they could have done a little better. Also have you seen the trailer for the Twilight final? Looks incredible.

I never read a romance novel until my cousin pesterd me to read Spirit Song.
We went shopping one day and walked past a bookshop when his eagle eyes spotted the cover of your book and so he bought it primarily because of the male model on the cover.
Spirit Song was so moving it really brought tears to my eyes. Ever since then your novels have been like a holy grail to me. Im currently reading First Love, Wild Love which is amazing. I have to say youve been blessed with a great imagination and writing skills. I hope a movie is made someday!

Hi Megan ~ First off, a big thank you to your cousin for buying Spirit's Song. I'm happy to know you're enjoying my books. I love writing them. It's long been a dream of mine to see one of my books made into a movie, but so far, no one in Hollywood seems interested. Maybe one of these days. As for my covers, I don't have anything to do with them. The publisher makes that decision, then sends me the finished product and says, Hope you like it :) Fortunately, I've loved most of them.

Not really a reason it's a frustrating and annoying fact in Australia movies, music books all get here months sometimes years after the rest of the world do and mostly not at all. they don't have any of your new books here (lest for certain they don't here in my city) and due to illness I’m condemned to remain here can't leave to see anywhere else if they do - but we don't have anything more than a second hand books store that if by chance I find one of your older ones. It’s just the way of things here that's all. I do have from luck and search a few of your older ones. That goes without saying I love dearly.

Of course, shipping might be very costly. I know when my son was living in Australia, it cost me something like $10 to send him a box of Cocoa Puffs, and if I recall correctly, that was by boat! I just finished His Dark Embrace last night and WOW!!!!! I just LOVE IT!!!!! I have been waiting on this one since you put it up on your In The Works page and you did not disappoint me it was well Worth the wait!!!!! As soon as I started the book was I entraced and you kept me hooked all the way through and I loved the ending but at the same time I hated for the book to end!!!!!! I stayed up to get it and read it all through the night and saw the sun come up as I finished the last page and it was totally worth the lost sleep!!!!! Ah, Mara. I don't think I've ever written a character who has captured my readers imaginations like Mara. Her story hasn't been published yet, due to some problems I had with the book. I haven't given up on her yet. I hope you won't, either. Mandy 5/4/12

just read 'under apache skies' and if brought back memories of my college days at NMSU 1959-63 and my trips back/forth between there and home in San Diego. one trip was a side trip to chiricahua nat'l monument & I felt that Cochise's spirit was there watching over us. ALso I went to college with Indians that were Navaho, Hopi, Mescalero Apache etc and enjoyed my time at the mescalero reservation near Ruidoso, NM and also all my side trips in NM with my godmother's ausnt who lived in Gila, NM and all the wonderful times at my collage roommate's family ranch at the Gila Cliff Dwellings, where her father was a park ranger.

Hi Mandy....I just finished Sandy's Angel, what a sweet story, always love happy endings...I can not tell you how excited I am to have the reckless series in ebook form...I have re-read them so much that most of mine are held together with duct tape....I know, pathetic, what can I say I love the story of Shadow and Hannah each time I re-read it's like visiting old friends...sigh....like I said pathetic!! To bad we couldn't combine the bronze sexy indians of the Baker books with the pale vampires of the Ashley books...Now that would be the perfect!!Maybe to much sex appeal for a book....Sigh...

I’m trying to interview an author for each kind of publisher, and was wondering if I could interview you for my post on ebook publishers, as I know you write historical Romance for Ellora’s Cave. I'd probably ask a few questions about writing, and a few about what it's like to be published with Entangled Publishing, maybe what the process of publishing was like, etc. Most of my readers are aspiring writers (like me), or book addicts who would secretly love to write a book, and I want to give them a taste of their dream of becoming a published author, as well as give them a little inspiration to keep going. That is a promise I can SO make, I never laugh at any of your work (unless its at the goofy, love sick puppy things all your vampires do LOL - which i love anyway) but I’ve read some of your poems and your friends that you've put in some of your books, I've printed them out and hung them up in my office. (Happy dance) I'm in my new house so I finally have an office ;) a necessity for any writer. Can’t wait to read the poems
