“Team-Building Corporate Retreats”

... You are responsible for operations spread out all over the map

... One important operating unit faces critical problems

... Your people are confident but are new to each other

... You have taken great risks, but so far you’ve prevailed

... Your greatest test is at hand

... You are a Venture Partner ... Or a Board Member ... Or a C-Suite Executive ... or a Regional Manager

... Now imagine you are Robert E. Lee

What Will You Do?

To help prepare you for challenges this important, APPLIED BATTLEFIELD CONCEPTS LLC offers an intensive, experiential learning-based team-building program based on the U.S. Army's century-old "Battlefield Staff Ride."

The Corporate Staff Ride was designed as a team-building and leadership development tool for those who are responsible for creating, nurturing, and guiding company management teams.

It consists of three phases

1) a very brief preparation before the battlefield visit with each participant focusing on the biography of a single commander,

2) a series of carefully selected stops (by vehicle and on foot) at pivotal places on a battlefield from American History where specific team-building issues can be explored, and

3) "after action review" workshops using the interactive case method approach to explore those selected issues, and the staff ride itself

The point of view of the Civil War Corps commander is particularly apt for a corporate staff ride. The personnel, asset, logistics, and organizational responsibilities of the Civil War Corps commander will seem familiar to many business and social enterprise professionals. So too, will the interplay of strategy, organization, communication, logistics, and personality on decision making under conditions of the greatest uncertainty and the highest stakes.

Applied Battlefield Concepts LLC was formed to adapt the US Army's century-old Staff Ride technique for team-building in young companies.
An intensive, experiential learning-based, leadership exercise conducted on the site of the "bloodiest day" in American history.
This program is structured as a half-day, corporate retreat tour of the American Revolution Saratoga Campaign, 1777. Saratoga was the decisive strategic victory of the war, and pitted the vainglorious British dandy Gen. "Gentleman Johnny" Burgoyne against the flagrantly ambitious American Gen. Horatio Gates.
The Corporate Staff Ride is flexible in design and can be developed internally to address the specific challenges of any organization.
The Principals of APPLIED BATTLEFIELD CONCEPTS, LLC combine decades of experience as successful businessmen, historians, and military officers.
