I remember a situation many years ago (and in a different state) where two of my sons were grounded for a very long time. Those two had broken about a dozen rules, including several relating to personal safety. But about half way through the time, I decided I’d made my point and lifted the restriction so they could attend a special activity the next week. Unfortunately, one of the boys never made it to the activity, because two days before, he slipped out of his room to watch videos with a group of buddies, without permission.
