BiographyI grew up in Lowell, Massachusetts and on reaching adulthood high-tailed it all way to Boston to study filmmaking at Emerson College. One of the most important things I learned while there was that, much as I adore movies, filmmaking is far too expensive and collaborative for someone as cheap and uncooperative as I am. So, I found my way to NYU, where I managed to earn yet another costly degree of dubious value - an MFA in Dramatic Writing. This very expensive piece of paper entitled me to toil in the field of feature film development for fifteen years. In New York, I worked as a script reader, story editor, creative consultant and development executive. Among my clients were 20th Century Fox, Largo Entertainment, Hallmark, Focus Features and Miramax. For five of those years I worked exclusively for Dustin Hoffman's Punch Productions, where I was hired as a freelance reader and eventually became Vice-President of Development. I also taught a course in script analysis at NYU, which I quite enjoyed. I now live, write, and procrastinate in San Francisco. I am hard at work on a new book, a dramatic departure from my comic novels. I am single, petless, and happy. |
