PBS to broadcast documentary on New York's prominent skyscrapers

Lewis interviewed at Lever House
In July, PBS filmed a documentary on the history of New York's greatest tall buildings. Lewis was interviewed on the historical importance of Lever House and the Seagram Building, both major players in the story of midcentury modernism in Manhattan.

Film to be shown on PBS nationwide in December 2011.

Conversations in Context features artists, architects, designers, historians and critics, ranging from Paul Goldberger of The New Yorker to artist David Salle. Lewis led the inaugural program in May 2011. All events take place at the Glass House site in New Canaan, Connecticut.

A brief film of Lewis's program is now being screened on the Glass House's website.

Modern House Day: Symposium and Tour

In May, Lewis was a key speaker at the New Canaan Historical Society's annual Modern House Day Symposium and Tour. (Buildings by John Black Lee, Eliot Noyes and Landis Gore were part of this year's tour.) She presented an overview of Philip Johnson's lifelong fascination with landscape and how this influenced his design of the Glass House.
