BiographyHilary Lewis is an expert on architecture, urban planning and real estate development. Trained in public policy, urban planning and history of architecture, she examines and comments on the challenges confronting the 21st century city as an author, lecturer and consultant. Lewis has collaborated with leading figures of the building industry. With eminent architect Philip Johnson, Lewis wrote two books, multiple articles and produced a short film. Additionally, Johnson spent five years with Lewis recording his memoirs and ideas on architecture. Lewis now serves as the Philip Johnson Scholar of the National Trust for Historic Preservation's Glass House site in New Canaan, Connecticut. With real estate developer extraordinaire Gerald D. Hines she developed ideas for and contributed to HINES: A Legacy of Quality in the Built Environment, a book that examines how the commercial realm can produce architectural excellence. Other projects include a book published by Images Publishing in 2006 on New York’s rebuilding at the former World Trade Center site(THINK: New York: A Ground Zero Diary) and several architectural monographs for the same publisher. She is the curator of an exhibition on Johnson's late work at the Kreeger Museum in Washington, DC (March-July 2008). Lewis is a founding editor and now Senior Contributing Editor at two publications, HOME Miami and HOME Fort Lauderdale, both dedicated to exploring new ideas about architecture, real estate and design in Florida.
