Dr. Sandy Lerner, horsewoman and patron of the Chawton House Library, will share her expert knowledge of 18th century carriages and their modern-day equivalents in terms of style, comfort and prestige. Dr. Alice Villaseñor of JASNA-SW will tell us about her summer at Chawton Library as a JASNA International Visitor. Plus, readings, songs, delicious food, and more. Program Highlights: Margery Rich, longtime JASNA-SW member, gave a fascinating talk on Pride and Prejudice as a detective novel. Lynda Hall from Chapman University gave us a new perspective on Austen's most controverisal work with “Addressing Readerly Unease: Discovering the Gothic in Mansfield Park.” There was also a special, audience-participation event that explored "our mysterious longing for Jane Austen."
