About PamPam Chun was born and raised in Hawaii. She attended Punahou Academy and the University of Hawaii where she was a Board of Regents Scholar. Pam graduated with Honors from the University of California at Berkeley with a degree in English. Pam has been a consultant on marketing, business, Asian philanthropy, and culture for over twenty-five years. Recent publications include works on Asian Pacific Americans and Hawaii for the University of California, Berkeley. She is a speaker on Asian philanthropy, business, and culture. In the past twenty years, Pam has chaired major fundraisers for the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco, Cal Alumni Association, Boy Scouts of America, Lions Club, and the University of San Francisco Center for the Pacific Rim. She is on the CAL Alumni Assn Board of Directors for the University of California at Berkeley, the Executive Advisory Board for University of San Francisco’s Center for the Pacific Rim, and the Board of the CAL Alumni, Chinese Chapter. In her spare time, Pam volunteers as a Storyteller at the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco. Her first novel, THE MONEY DRAGON was on Hawaii’s Best Seller list for several month upon its release. It was named one of 2002’s Best Books of Hawaii. In 2003 it received a Ka Palapala Po`okela Award from the Hawaii Book Publisher’s Association for excellence in literature about Hawaii. THE MONEY DRAGON was featured on National Public Radio and at the National Archives and Records Administration’s Conference on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders.Conference on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. Pam has presented the story behind THE MONEY DRAGON to the Smithsonian Institute in Washington DC, Chinese Historical Society of America, the Hawaii State Library, the Associated Chinese University Women, the CAL Alumni Association, and national organizations in the San Francisco Bay Area, Seattle, Hawai`i, and Washington D.C. Pam lives in San Francisco Bay Area with her husband. Her only son was born in the year of the Dragon like his great-great-grandfather, Lau Ah Leong.
