Public speaking has taken me from Wilmington, N.C. to Portland, Oregon this year. I speak about American literature and my beloved Concord writers, Thoreau, Emerson, Alcott, Hawthorne and Fuller. I also speak about recovery and addiction. I have also spoken on the nature of creativity--what creates a great book or a brilliant idea.
